Insight Factor (“we”) runs theinsightfactor.com. This page explains what information we collect when you read or use the site, why, and the choices you have. We follow South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
We don't sell your personal information.
Our own site stores a few small settings in your browser, such as light or dark mode and whether you've dismissed the alerts prompt. These stay on your device.
We use Google AdSense to show ads, which helps pay for our journalism. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites, and to measure how ads perform.
We use service providers to run the site: hosting (Vercel), our database (Supabase), and Google for advertising. They handle information only to provide those services. We share information with authorities only when the law requires it, and we protect our sources.
Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Comments stay with the story they were posted on. Tips are kept only as long as our editors need them. Technical rate-limit records are deleted within a day.
Under POPIA you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email theinsightf@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to the Information Regulator.
