The City of Ekurhuleni is at the center of a growing public safety crisis following the deaths of several women across the municipality in recent months. Among the cases that have captured public attention is the death of Elizabeth "Tsontso" Moselakgomo, a respected runner from Kempton Park. Community members, athletes, and advocacy groups have since organized memorial events and solidarity campaigns in her honor, calling for justice and greater protection for women across Gauteng.

The tragedy comes amid reports of additional women's bodies being discovered in areas including Villa Liza. While police have cautioned against linking the cases prematurely, the incidents have heightened concern among residents who fear a worsening pattern of violent crime targeting women.
